Nobody goes as hard as Dana — she’s an inspiration to us all!
You probably already know who Dana is — the unstoppable dynamo of the AbsoluteFIT world, and one of the most encouraging and upbeat people you’ll ever meet anywhere. Here, she tells about the AbsoluteFIT experience from her perspective.
1) Why did you decide to try AbsoluteFIT?
I wanted to see what it was like in a small group — I used to do Group X, but there were usually too many people, which can make it hard for everyone to get what they need from the workout. I just wanted to stay fit and strong!
2) How long have you been doing AbsoluteFIT, and about how often do you attend sessions?
I started over two years ago. At first, I had the 8-class monthly package, but I loved the instructors so much I changed to unlimited — and now I often go twice a day! I also run 3-5 miles daily (sometimes with trainer Jackie as my running partner) and do a half-hour swim three times a week. It sounds like a lot, but I’m five feet tall and used to weigh 150 lbs.; before I joined the gym, all I did was run, and I did lose weight but didn’t build muscle. And honestly, I just really like to eat — and I do not want to gain back what I lost!
3) What are some of your favorite things about AbsoluteFIT?
I love the friendly environment and super nice people — there’s no competition, just encouragement! I’ve been to other places where people look down on you for not knowing the moves, but in AbsoluteFIT, they’re very welcoming to new people. Also, I love the trainers — they’re always looking out for you, correcting your form, encouraging everybody, and they really help people work around injuries and such.
4) What are your favorite and least favorite moves we do in the workouts?
I like TRX stuff! I don’t like the assault bike (especially sprints!), or moves that aren’t timed — the ones where you’re supposed to go on your own; they give me anxiety. (Author’s note: gahhhh, me too!)
Thanks, Dana — it’s always a pleasure to see you in the studio! And readers, if you’d like to be featured as an AbsoluteFIT friend, or know someone who should, let me know!
