Absolute Kids: Inspiring By Example

It’s not just about you …

One of my original reasons for doing AbsoluteFIT, way back when, was that I wanted my young daughter to see me as Wonder Woman.

And I still do — but what that means has changed and expanded.

Now, I see my workouts — and the joy I take in them — as a source of inspiration and confidence for both of my kids (now ages 10 and 6). I never want them to think fitness is out of reach, or unimportant, or only for certain kinds of people. I want them always to think that they can do it, whatever “it” is: learning a new sport (see the cover photo? I’m so proud!), running a 5K (which my daughter did in May, with AVAC-partnered Girls on the Run), improving their swimming skills and speed, channeling their maniac energy into gymnastics (which my son has taken to in a big way), or just general strength and fitness.

I show them a video like this, in which you can clearly see I’m pushing myself:

And I hope it inspires them to look for their inner strength as well.
