Atmospheric conditions: Yet another way a workout can be ruined.
It was 98 degrees at school pick-up on Monday afternoon. Ugh. Plus, we could see the Santa Cruz mountain fire from the campus.
And then on Tuesday, it was 102, with the fire now a haze all around us.
It’s cooler today, but: This is now the third straight day that my kids won’t have had outdoor recess, because of the heat and the smoke. And boy, does it show — they’re fighting with each other more, they’re whinier, the older one is more tightly-wound and the younger bounces around my house like a human Superball. Gosh, is it obnoxious.
But I realize: I’m the same way. If I don’t get to burn off my energy, it’s not good.
For various super-annoying reasons, it’s been a week since my last workout (please do not get me started on the waiting-all-day-for-the-refrigerator-repair-guy thing or I will go into a rant that lasts till Halloween), and I am … not myself. I’m short-tempered and tense, restless, with strange aches in various weird places. I think — I THINK — I get to do an AbsoluteFIT workout tomorrow?
AbsoluteFIT is the source of my calm … let us hope for its return tomorrow. Plus outdoor recess for those kids, or I’m gonna lose every last one of my marbles.
