Sometimes a disruption leads to discoveries. . .

I’ve mentioned before how I choose my AbsoluteFIT workouts primarily by how they fit into my schedule — and I happen to love the sessions that do fit, so it’s a win-win for me!

But lately, between the kids’ fluctuating summer commitments, my in-laws’ visit, cable guys & oven repairpersons and washer repairpersons showing up when they feel like it, etc., I’ve been forced to shuffle my schedule around — and I’ve really enjoyed exploring the other options. Here are two discoveries I’ve made:

Ashley’s Strength and Endurance, Thursdays 11:00 a.m.:  Ashley is delightful, calm, steady, watchful — and here to absolutely kick your behind. She knows everyone’s limits, and wants to make sure you reach directly for — or past — yours. I mean, she’s very careful of everyone’s quirks and injuries and whatnot, but … she sets up equipment for each individual, based on what she knows you’re capable of; you’re not going to take it easy in her sessions.

Jackie’s Boot Camp: Total Body, Fridays 9:00 a.m.: This is a great, fast-paced mix of a lot of different moves — usually four to six rounds of four circuits, with a brief rest in between moves, and a dash of anaerobic sprinting on the bike and/or the rowing machine in between each set. You use every minute of a Jackie session, and she’s an encouraging coach with a very sharp eye for correct form — you will get a LOT out of this, and it’s so much fun!

Tell me: Have you made any new AbsoluteFIT discoveries lately?

She plays bass, reads a lot, watches too much TV, and can be found in the AbsoluteFIT studio three to five times a week. Her life goals include having a body like Linda Hamilton’s in Terminator 2, and/or having Bill Murray randomly crash a party she is attending. If you need something from her, try bribing her with good coffee or cold beer; odds are, she wants one or the other of those right now.
