Yeah, yeah, me with the food thing again. But my AbsoluteFIT experience — and the food tracking that’s part of it — has taught me an important thing about myself: I [heart] booze and sugar, and if ever I get off track, that particular dynamic duo is why.

For some people, it’s fried food. For some, it’s bread and butter. For some, it’s chimichangas loaded with sour cream and guacamole. I love all that stuff — but I can budget them, calorie-and-nutrition-wise, without too much pain. But oh my Shatner, you put a birthday cake in front of me (why so many birthdays in October? WHY?), or tell me they make an awesome Sidecar at this bar? Forget MyFitnessPal, I’m goin’ in.

And of course, my two vices are absolutely terrible for the human body (alcohol is basically poison; ask AbsoluteFIT trainer Vesna Mardesic about sugar …). But I’m not willing to completely eliminate either one, so I’m having one of those moments again where I recognize I’ve been overdoing it lately (gah, especially the sugar!), and have to dial back dramatically to re-set myself.

One small glass of good wine last night, and none of the insanely delicious cake I made from scratch for my daughter’s birthday … it was several days old anyway and wouldn’t have been quite as satisfying as my current standards require. [sob] [weep]

  1. This may seem strange, but I like dairy, and mayonnaise. So, I guess, creamy things.

Tonight I was eating a boiled egg (which is an egg) with mayonnaise (which is made out of eggs.) So I realized I was eating an egg with egg sauce.

And someone told me recently they don’t like yogurt, and that no one really does. I beg to differ. Yogurt is my kryptonite and I could eat it endlessly.
