TIPS FOR BARRE EXERCISE CLASSES

Barre workouts have become popular classes for a good reason. It is great for all levels and challenges a participant from beginning to end.  For us here at Almaden Valley Athletic Club® we have included a Gentle Barre class for those members who have knee issues but want a workout to challenge their body with a different approach.

Some tips to consider when taking the Gentle Barre class:

  1. You don’t need to look like a ballerina. Wear comfortable workout clothes.
  2. Wear socks that absorb sweat and have good traction.
  3. Make sure you have had enough to eat during the day whenever taking a class.
  4. Stick with it—change will come in time. The proof comes over time.

In the Gentle Pilates class we will have moves that challenge the body but not the knees.  We will have our push up series, upper body series, modified plies with soccer kicks with warm up and cool down exercises.  It is a half hour class that is designed to give you a new way to be with members and workout in a comfortable setting with both physical and social components.  I loved taking this class from Annie Durning and I hope you will try it to see why it is and up and coming workout.
