Lydia’s AbsoluteFIT Journey: Reasons, Not So Much Resolutions

Happy new year, you guys! Now that we’re nearly two weeks into January, is everyone back into — or starting fresh with — their workout and nutrition plans? Excellent! (See, I’m assuming that was an enthusiastic “Hell yeah!” from all of y’all.)

In the spirit of the new year, I think this is a good time to examine our reasons for starting up or sticking with it, and first, let me say this: Any reason, resolution, spark, urge or whatever that gets a person into the gym is a good one. Fitness is not a thing that requires perfect circumstances or justifications to happen. So if you’re considering it, get on in there! You’ll never be sorry you did.

For me personally, I am newly rededicated to the health, longevity, and quality-of-life reasons for working out. You know I love looking better — gotta be keepin’ it tight, ya’ll! — and that alone is powerful motivation.

But watching my mom’s health decline over the last 10 years (and seeing how sorry she was that she couldn’t romp with the grandkids like she wanted to, despite her own relative youth), was one of the major things prodding me to commit to AbsoluteFIT in the first place, and it’s all the more important to me now that she has passed.

Get stronger, stay healthy, keep up with those endlessly-energetic kids o’ mine, even 25 years from now when I’m a grandma (hopefully!) — that’s why I’ll be in the studio 3-5 times a week. How about you?
