Local Labryrinth

San Jose Water Authority Labrynth

On Friday, September 25, members and guests of Almaden Valley Athletic Club went for our annual walk at the Labrynth at the San Jose Water Authority property on Almaden Expressway.  It is a wonderful way to spend time with friends, learn about the animals and birds in and around Almaden Lake, have a fitness walk and see sayings from prominent scholars.

The setting of the labrynth is in a natural garden next to a large pond abundant with wild fowl. The boundaries of this labrynth are made from a leafy design interspersed with animals, birds, fish and insects etched in concrete.  Along the path are quotes from among others are Carl Sagan and Henry David Thoreau having to do with ecology or water.

The center of the labrynth is a large stone with a quote from “The Lorax” by Dr. Seuss.  It is a great way to be in the middle of San Jose but in a natural surrounding. Look for the next hike in the “Just Enough” Newsletter and make a note on your 2015 September calendar for our next trip to the labrynth.
